Chocolate Chickpea Spread

  • 1 Food processor or blender

Ingredients
  

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed (14oz)
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup of maple syrup or honey
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • In a food processor or blender, combine the chickpeas, cocoa powder, maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract, and salt.
  • Blend the ingredients together until they form a smooth and creamy spread, scraping down the sides of the processor or blender as needed (see the notes).
  • Taste the spread and adjust the sweetness and saltiness as needed. Transfer the spread to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

If your blender is not strong you may need to blend the mass in several pulses and add some spoons of non-dairy milk or water to make the paste smooth.
