Ingredients

  • 4 pieces of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 ripe pears, cored, and diced
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano (optional)
  • 1 tbsp pecans, chopped
  • ¼ cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Honey (for drizzling, optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to the temperature recommended on the puff pastry package, typically around 375°F (190°C).
  • Roll out the thawed puff pastry pieces on a lightly floured surface to eliminate any creases. Cut the pastry into desired shapes (e.g., squares or circles) to form individual tarts.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the diced pear to the skillet and cook for about 2 minutes. Drizzle honey over the diced pear and sprinkle with ground cinnamon, dried oregano and chopped pecans. Continue to cook and stir for an additional 2-3 minutes until the pear pieces are tender and coated in a caramelized mixture.
  • Place the pastry shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Arrange a portion of the caramelized pear-pecans mixture on each pastry shape, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle crumbled blue cheese over the caramelized pear mixture on each tart. Brush the edges with the beaten egg.
  • Bake the tarts in the preheated oven for approximately 15-18 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown, and the cheese has melted.
  • Remove the tarts from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Optionally, drizzle a bit of honey over the tarts for an extra touch of sweetness.
