What is a shrimp burger made of
This crispy shrimp burger is made with the following ingredients:
- Shrimp patty: Fresh, juicy shrimp that has been minced and formed into a patty shape coated in crispy panko crunch. The shrimp is seasoned with salt, pepper, chili flakes, paprika, garlic, and cilantro before being cooked.
- Grilled pineapple: Fresh pineapple that has been sliced and grilled until caramelized. The grilled pineapple adds a sweet and smoky flavor to the burger.
- Sweet-n-sour sauce: A tangy, sweet and sour sauce is a perfect condiment for the burger.
- Arugula: Fresh arugula leaves add a peppery, slightly bitter flavor to the burger. Moreover, arugula is full of antioxidants.
- Cheese: A slice of cheese, such as cheddar, is added to the burger for additional flavor and creaminess.
- Red onion: Thinly sliced red onion adds a mild, sweet flavor and crunch to the burger.
These ingredients are layered on a bun to create a delicious and flavorful shrimp burger. The crispy shrimp patty is the “star of the show”, while the other ingredients add layers of flavor and texture to create a well-balanced and satisfying burger.
Is shrimp healthy or unhealthy
Shrimp can be a healthy addition to a balanced diet when consumed in moderation. Here are some reasons why:
- Low in calories: Shrimp are low in calories, with approximately 85 calories per 3-ounce serving. This makes them a good option for those trying to manage their weight.
- High in protein: Shrimp are an excellent source of protein, with approximately 18 grams per 3-ounce serving. Protein is important for maintaining muscle mass, repairing tissues, and supporting healthy immune function.
- Low in fat: Shrimp are low in fat and contain minimal amounts of saturated fat, making them a heart-healthy option.
- High in nutrients: Shrimp are a good source of several important nutrients, including vitamin B12, iron, selenium, and phosphorus.
What keeps a shrimp burger juicy
There are several factors that keep this shrimp burger juicy:
- High-quality shrimp: Starting with fresh, high-quality shrimp can make a big difference in the juiciness of a shrimp burger. Look for shrimp that are plump, firm, and smell fresh.
- Moisture: Shrimp have a high moisture content, so adding other moist ingredients to the burger, such as panko crumbs, egg, or sauce, can help keep it juicy.
- Seasonings: Adding flavorful seasonings, such as garlic, herbs and spices, can help enhance the natural flavors of the shrimp and make the burger more juicy and tasty.
- Cooking method: Cooking the shrimp patty in the oven can help lock in moisture and create a juicy, flavorful crust outside the burger.
- Cooking time: Overcooking the shrimp can make it dry and tough, so it’s important to cook the burger until it’s done. Depending on the size of the patty, this may take 10 minutes in the oven.
By following these tips and techniques, you can help ensure your shrimp burger is juicy, flavorful, and delicious.
Should I bake or fry the patty in burgers
Whether to bake or fry the patty in burgers is a personal preference, however, baking the shrimp patty is a healthier alternative to frying as it uses less oil. So in this recipe, I prefer baking because it is healthier and the baked patty is still tasty and crispy.
How to make a Crispy Shrimp Burger
Let’s prepare the shrimp patties first.
In a bowl beat an egg and whisk it.
Separate the whole amount of shrimp into 2 equal parts. Place one part into a food processor or a blender, and add salt, pepper, chili flakes, paprika, garlic and cilantro.
Pulse in quick bursts until the mixture is finely chopped.
Cut the other part of the shrimp into 1/5 pieces.
Transfer all the shrimp to a bowl. Mix in cornstarch and 1 tbsp of the beaten egg. Keep the bowl with the beaten egg, we’ll need it later.
With your hands divide the mixture into 2 equal portions and shape them into the burger patties. Place them on the plate line with an oiled baking sheet and chill for 30 mins.
While the patties are chilling, let’s deal with the other ingredients. Cut the arugula stems out, so you get only the leaves that we will use in the burger. Set them aside.
Peel and cut half of the red onion into semi-circles. Set them aside.
Peel the pineapple and cut it into circles. For 2 burgers we’ll need 4 circles 0.8-1cm thick. Delete its core.
Put a grill pan on medium heat, add some olive oil or butter over there and grill pineapple pieces for about 30 sec on each side or till they get beautiful grill strips and get softened. Set them aside.
Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F).
Prepare 3 bowls: flour is in the first, the remaining beaten egg is in the second, and panko crumbs are in the third.
Coat the patty with the flour first, shaking off the excess. Then dip it in the beaten egg mixture. Finally cover it with panko crumbs, pressing to adhere. Do the same with the second patty. Place both on the baking tray lined with baking paper and drizzled with oil.
Bake for 5 mins in the oven, then turn the patties to the other side and bake for 5 mins more till golden color.
While they’re being baked, slice the cheese. After 10 mins place the cheese on the patties and bake 3-4 mins more, till the cheese is melted. Total baking time is 13-14 mins.
While the patties are being baked, fry the buns on the pan with some butter till crispy golden.
It’s time to assemble a perfect shrimp burger! Spread some sweet-n-sour sauce on the inner parts of the buns. Place the shrimp pattie with the cheese on the bottom bun. Sprinkle with chili sauce (optional, if you like spiciness). Then place 2 pineapple slices, red onion and arugula leaves. Cover it with the top of the bun.
Enjoy!
