Gluten-free Chocolate Waffles are soft and fluffy inside, with a crunchy thin bark outside! Believe me, they are not worse than the ones with regular flour, they are even better as they don’t contain gluten, lactose (dairy-free) and refined sugar. Perfect as a healthy breakfast when you want something “chocolate-style.”
Ingredients:
- Egg: The egg serves as a binding agent in the waffle batter, helping to hold the ingredients together.
- Coconut milk or milk of choice: This liquid provides moisture and richness to the waffle batter. Coconut milk has a slightly sweet and nutty flavor, but any type of milk can be used, such as dairy milk, almond milk, or soy milk.
- Olive oil: This healthy fat adds moisture and richness to the waffle batter, as well as providing a subtle flavor.
- Honey or maple syrup: This natural sweetener adds sweetness to the waffles without refined sugar.
- Rice flour: This gluten-free flour is made from finely milled rice and helps to create a light and tender texture in the waffles.
- Baking powder: This is a leavening agent that helps the waffles rise and become fluffy.
- Unsweetened cocoa: This provides the chocolate flavor in the waffles and gives them a rich, dark color. Cocoa powder also contains polyphenols, antioxidants that help to improve cholesterol and blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.
- Vanilla extract: This adds a subtle vanilla flavor to the waffles, enhancing the overall taste.
These ingredients work together to create a delicious and healthier version of chocolate waffles. The rice flour and baking powder provide a gluten-free base, while the coconut milk and olive oil help to keep the waffles moist and tender. The honey or maple syrup adds natural sweetness, and the cocoa and vanilla extract provide rich flavor.
How to make healthy chocolate waffles?
Turn on your waffle maker on medium heat. In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients except milk.
Start adding the milk and whisk the batter. Control the amount of milk you have chosen. Mine took 80g for the batter to be a perfect consistency. It must be thick enough and should not drain from the whisker. Whisk the batter till smooth.
When the waffle maker is ready, place some batter in the waffle maker and cook, not opening the cover. Mine took 2 mins to make perfect Chocolate waffles.
Gently pull the waffles out and serve on the plate. Enjoy your Gluten-free Chocolate waffles with some frozen yogurt and fruit!
